Legal Aid of Sonoma County is a private non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable organization.
Why Legal Aid?
Unique: We are the ONLY agency in Sonoma County providing complete crisis legal services for victims of violence, elders, disaster survivors, and those at risk of homelessness.
Permanency: “The donation that keeps on giving.” Unlike an isolated instance of aid, legal services provide emergency relief as well as permanent client benefits that extend long into the future.
Helping a veteran obtain benefits he/she is entitled to provides that veteran with permanent shelter and medical care. A protective order for a battered woman and her child secures her home from the batterer and gives her child support for food, thereby providing food and shelter for years to come.
Preventative: Our services are preventative and relieve other social and governmental services. They keep children out of the foster care system, keep battered women out of emergency rooms and shelters, and prevent families from becoming homeless.
