C.A.P.P. – Child Abuse Prevention Program

Serves 100 families and 150 abused children annually. Protects abused and neglected children by helping non-parental caregivers obtain guardianship of at-risk children. Guardianships help protect children from abuse and neglect by allowing someone other than the dysfunctional parent to care for the child.

HOME – Housing Stability Program

Serves over 700 people annually.

HOME helps prevent homelessness by preventing unlawful evictions, and ensures that low-income people have safe and habitable places to live.

SAFE – Domestic Violence Services Project

Serves over 700 adult and over 1,000 children annually. Prevents domestic violence by helping victims obtain protective orders. Protects victims and their children by keeping batterers away from their homes.

ELDER – Elder Law Program

Serves over 500 seniors annually. Services include elder abuse restraining orders, simple estate planning, help with public benefits, financial abuse and credit issues. Our elder services are mobile. Seniors can meet with us in their homes or senior centers throughout the County.

Employment and Health Program (EHP)

EHP assists SonomaWORKS clients who are referred by their caseworker with legal issues that may be a barrier to their employment or health. This includes help with criminal record expungement, driver’s license retrieval, traffic offenses and monthly educational workshops on these and other topics.

Disaster Relief Program

The Disaster Relief Program helps people affected by the 2017 and 2019 wildfires. We help with issues such as insurance, FEMA appeals, contractor problems and other consumer law issues. We also work on policies to help future victims of disaster.

Veterans’ Services Program

Legal Aid of Sonoma County’s Veterans’ Services Program serves homeless and low-income individuals who reside in Sonoma County and served at least a day in the military. We assist former service-members with a variety of issues, including Discharge Upgrades, Character of Discharge Determinations, Service Connected Compensation Claims and VA benefits appeals.

Small Business Equity and Recovery Program

Legal Aid of Sonoma County’s Small Business Equity and Recovery Program assists vulnerable small business owners in Sonoma County that have been negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We assist small businesses with a variety of issues including:

  • Business structure (LLP, Inc., LLC, etc.)
  • Employee Issues
  • Permits
  • Commercial leasing, including lease drafting, review, and negotiations
  • General business contract drafting and review
